The First Floor
Walking in the front door, the feeling of warmth and comfort envelope you as you view the foyer and wide stairs leading you to the suites and rooms.
The main entrance to the Taylor House gives a beautiful view of the 7-foot wide grand staircase, as well as the original pocket doors in each parlor. In 1935, when the house was tri-plexed, a wall split the staircase and divided the first two floors. When the wall was removed during the restoration, the quarter-sawn treads and risers were stripped and refinished leaving the warm ribboning effect that existed in 1909.
The first floor is where many of the guests relax, read, and enjoy the house before laying their heads on their pillows. Take a tour and view what you'll experience:
